It’s been a busy week. Therefore, I haven’t been able to write a blog post with which I was happy enough to put out today.

But do not despair!

I thought it would be nice to share a little fifty-word story of mine that was featured on Fiftywordstories.com a little while back. I wrote it for this blog when I was just starting out and didn’t have much of a following.

Dealing With Blue Monday

Today, across the UK, people are feeling the effects of Blue Monday. A day that, according to a light-hearted formula created in 2005 by Dr Cliff Arnall, is the most depressing day of the year. I think they are important, those two words: ‘light-hearted.’ It is a light-hearted observation of the stress caused by Christmas debts, going back to school, and the terrible weather. That, however, is where it ends.

Captivity

50 word story:

She is a dancer twisting her lithe grey body through the air, rivulets of water streaking her slender flanks.

At the peak of her flying pirouette she can just make out the other dolphins, playing in the distance.

Then her vision falls behind the stalls.

The audience applauds.
