Wow it’s been a long time! Coming out of cryosleep.

So I’ve been on some sort of an unofficial hiatus lately, and I apologize for that. I feel that I should explain why I have neglected this blog for so long, trust me I feel terrible about it.

It just so happens that this is my last year of my undergraduate degree in Creative Writing, and for my independent study I have chosen to study how writers of Fantasy deal with real world issues through their own writing. Not only am I doing a report for this but I am also focusing on writing my own fantasy novel. Alongside this I have several modules that need reports and short stories to be completed.

This hasn’t been the only thing distracting me, a Podcast run by me and two (sometimes three) of my friends has also been taking up my time. If you are interested by that sort of thing you can find our website hereΒ or by clicking on the image below.

I’ve also been spending a lot of time preparing to learn the violin, which will by far be one of the hardest challenges I have undertaken. If there is any advice I can give is that if you really want to do something, just do it. I’ve spent too long thinking about how much I want to play the violin and then dismissing it, I’ve been told I’m too old to start learning and I think that put me off for a while. Don’t listen to the negative comments, if you want to do something, just do it!

So those are my reasons for not blogging for a while, I shall be back at full strength in the coming days and hope to see you all again in the blogisphere.

I agree – if you want to do something, just do it. I started learning the piano at 22, and I’ve made a lot of progress (I’m now 27, and have been learning on and off the past five years), despite being ‘too old’.

  2. Glad to see you back! How fantasy writers tackle real-life issues is an awesome topic. And I think it’s GRAND that you’re learning the violin – so few people take on learning an instrument after leaving their teen years. Kudos to you. πŸ™‚ (I took violin lessons in high school but unfortunately the sounds I produced were less of the violin variety and more of the dying cat variety :p )
