Poetry 101 Rehab: Couple

Two pieces of a filigree locket,
Rather ineffectual on their own.
Yet together are capable,
Capable of great things.

Holding memories to hearts,
A shard of time unforgotten.
Lanced with silver or gold
On a delicate chain.

But that chain is taught
While we are so far apart.

This weeks Poetry Rehab from the wonderful MaraEasternΒ is following the prompt Couple. I took it down the long distance relationship path, seeing as I am in a long distance relationship myself. Go check out Mara’s page, it’s great over there!

Really nice poem, I felt a lot of hope in it. I especially enjoyed the last stanza, felt like there was still a strong connection even though the pieces are separated.

  2. Hi, I absolutely loved this poem, the words continued to play on my mines over and over. I liked the concept you used considering it is something personal to you. your writing is fantastic, we are sort of in the same situation as I am also completing my creative writing degree (yes I also just want to write lol). your writing is very deep and interesting and thankyou for taking the time out to look at some of my work.
